The Department of Graphic Design is very pleased to welcome Dennis Elbers at the University of Applied Arts on January 23, 2019. He will give a public lecture and will intorduce his mission (as a non-designer) to make designers more aware of their social impact and to stimulate visual literacy amongst a critical audience.
Dennis Elbers is a freelance curator and lecturer with a special interest for the social relevance and impact of visual culture (mainly graphic design, photography and digital arts). In various forms he likes to explore and discuss the current state of visual culture in relation to contemporary social phenomena with both creators and audience.
Dennis combines his passion for visual culture with his talent for event management. As an organizer and curator of public cultural events including festivals, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, etc. he creates platforms for a new generation designers. These platforms offer artistic development for participating designers and social relevance for the audience.
As founder and creative director of Graphic Matters, a Graphic Design Festival in Breda he frequently curates exhibitions on graphic design for broad audiences.
