a_social media

The exhibition a_social media engages with obvious and hidden influences of social media on our society.

“How do we perceive ourselves as producers, viewers and recipients of messages?” “How do the concepts of identity and authenticity change in the virtual and infiltrate the real world?” “How do digital means alter our perception, selfperception and our behaviour?” These and further questions are triggered and negotiated by the works of artists and designers of the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the theoretical contributions by international experts in the field.

The entirety of the project is situated situated in the field of critical design. The contributing artists and designers deliver critical and speculative works to make the viewer questions unconscious personal assumptions and commonly accepted behavioural patterns.
